Privacy policy
This explains what happens to your details when you use this site, in plain English.

Who we are
The data controller is Nathan Constance, trading as Roofers Merthyr, Merthyr Tydfil. Email hello@roofersmerthyr.co.uk with any question about your data.
What we collect
- Your quote request: name, phone number, email, the postcode of the property, the type of job, how urgent it is, the best time to call, your description and any photos you add.
- Record of your consent: the date and time you ticked the box agreeing your details can be shared with a local roofer.
- Where you came from: the page you sent the form from and, if you arrived from another site, its address.
- Security data: to stop spam, we briefly hold a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for 10 minutes. We don’t store your IP address itself.
- Emails: anything you send to hello@roofersmerthyr.co.uk, such as extra photos.
- Analytics, only if you accept: how you use the site, through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. See our cookie policy.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To pass your request to a local roofer so they can contact you and quote. Basis: your consent, which you give with the tick box.
- To send you a confirmation email and reply if you contact us. Basis: our legitimate interest in handling your request properly.
- To keep a record of requests and referral fees, deal with complaints and prevent spam or misuse. Basis: legitimate interests and our legal obligations, such as tax records.
- Analytics, to see which pages help people. Basis: your consent through the cookie banner.
We don’t sell your details, add you to marketing lists or send them to more than one roofer.
Who we share it with
- One local roofer. We pass your request to a trusted roofer who works in Merthyr Tydfil. Once they have it, the roofer is responsible for how they use your details to quote and do the work, under their own privacy policy.
- Service providers who run the site for us: Cloudflare (hosting, database, photo storage and email forwarding), Resend (sending emails) and our email provider. They only act on our instructions.
- Google and Microsoft, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Others when the law requires it, for example the police or HMRC.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the USA. Where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests: 12 months, then deleted automatically.
- Photos: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Emails with us: up to 12 months, unless we need them longer for a complaint or for referral fee and tax records, which we keep for six years in line with HMRC rules.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your details, to restrict or object to how we use them, or for a copy to take elsewhere. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing hello@roofersmerthyr.co.uk. That stops us passing on your details from then on, but can’t undo a referral already made: to stop the roofer using them, contact the roofer as well. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
